Our Grand Opening!

What a wonderful celebration we had on Saturday 2 June at 2pm as we were filled to capacity to open our new building.  After a five year journey we were ready to party!

So what happened?

The music team led by Joanne Waide did a fantastic job with an amazing opening song and then throughout the program they took us through the last 50 years of church choruses and songs.  We were taken down memory lane by John Turnbull as he presented a history of the church from the beginning in 1971 at Beech Street with Tony and Kaye Wiltshire, our founding pastors.  We heard from David Rosie, our project manager for the build and from Ps Wayne as he shared about the journey that the church as been on to get us where we are today with a great new building for the church and to serve the community.  Ps Adam White, current leader of New Life Churches NZ spoke and dedicated the building and from above Adam and Anita pulled the ribbon on a balloon drop over everyone!  A cake ‘spectacular’ was made by some of the ladies with cakes on a map of Wanaka on the many places church has been held over the years.  It was great to have people come from all over NZ and former Pastors gather to share the day with us which finished off with food as any good church event does!  Ps Judy has produced a book about the history of the church from it’s beginning and right through the journey to get this far titled ‘How God Built the House’.
